Most of us spend our entire life in a box. Living in the same town, surrounded by the same people, having the same routine. Year.. after year... after year...
Somehow, I've always known from an early age that I didn't want that kind of "normal" life. I wanted to travel and live overseas.
I didn't know how, I didn't know when, I didn't know anything, but I still wanted it.
Before I got married, I spent a lot of time researching studying overseas, or how to get a job teaching English. I didn't care what I had to do, I just wanted to do it in a different country.
Anywho, that's starting to get off topic a bit.
Now, I know moving to a completely foreign country isn't for everyone, nor is everyone willing to take that kind of risk, so what's the next best thing?
Once you take that first step, and experience the thrill of going to some place that's completely out of your comfort zone, it becomes addicting, and you begin to crave more and more of it.
So without further adieu, here are 5 reasons why I think you should travel the world.
1.) To expand your mind.
It's amazing what you can learn just from observing and experiencing how other people live.
2.) To better yourself as a person.
If I had a dollar for the amount of ignorant and closed-minded people that I've encountered throughout my life, I would have a lot of dollars.
9 times out of 10, these are people who have never traveled abroad anywhere, let alone have never even left their home state.
Traveling can really make you appreciate the small things in life and teach you to be grateful for the things that you might otherwise take for granted.
3.)To Challenge Yourself.
It's easy to get stuck in a boring routine that can leave you completely uninspired.
When you go to a foreign place, it will challenge you, it will scare you, it will thrill you, and it will make for some of the best experiences of your life.
4.) For The Food.
There is SO much amazing food out there! I have a love/hate relationship with this reason because I will try all of this amazing food and drinks, and then when I come home from vacation, I start having withdrawals because I either can't get it anywhere, or similar options that might be available just can't compare.
5.) For The New Friendships.
You never know who you're going to meet, and how they might impact your life.
You might meet your best friend, or your future spouse, you just never know.
Meeting new friends on your travels is both a blessing and a curse, because sometimes the hardest part is saying goodbye.
The good news is, it will always give you a reason to travel again, and maybe this time help you save money on lodging costs. :)
