Japan is full of hidden gems- parks, lakes, beaches, flower gardens, onsens, you name it...
Living in the Japanese countryside, each time I discover a new place that I haven't been to before, my heart rejoices.
Today I want to share with you a park that I recently went to called Icho Park (Also known as Liberty Park) in a little town called Oirase in Aomori Prefecture.
I happened to stumble upon this place during my favorite time of the year when the sakura was in full bloom, and I couldn't be happier.
Upon my arrival, my jaw literally dropped open because of how shocked I was that such a beautiful place existed so close by.
I was surrounded by sakura trees everywhere I looked.
The park also has a replica of the Statue Of Liberty in the middle of it, thus getting the name "Liberty Park".
Fun Fact: Aomori's Statue of Liberty lies on the same latitudinal line as the original Lady Liberty and is about half the size of the original.
If you come during certain times of the year, you might be lucky enough to find the lake full of swans before they migrate. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see any at this particular time, but that just gives me another reason to keep coming back.
