Theme: "Game Face"
My January glam bag from Ipsy is finally here!
Let's not waste any time and jump right into it.
As always, y'all know I gotta judge the bag design.
First of all...
Nothing about this bag screams "January".
When I first saw it I thought,
"omg, that is hideous..."
After seeing it in person though, it's not half bad.
I like the fact that it's mesh, and the shoelace on the zipper is a cute touch.
Ipsy if you're reading this, please hire me onto your design team because I know we can make some magic happen.
Anywho, let's break down what's inside:
Hydrating and Calming Serum
"Mad About Mauve"
You've probably noticed that this month I received six products instead of five. I'll get more into the "how" of that later on.
Ok, so first we have this serum called
This brand is new to me, but they claim to only use the best ingredients in their products.
This serum is supposed to firm and tone the skin while controlling oil/shine and minimizing pores.
IDK about you, but I'm all for it.
(Retail price $15 for full size)
Next we have an exfoliating face mask from Dermelect. It contains ingredients such as:
Vitamin C, Kaolin Clay, Coconut, Bergamot, Avocado and Sweet Orange Oils, and Salicylic Acid.
It's also free from parabens, sulfates, fragrance and synthetic dyes making it perfect for all skin types- including those with sensitive skin.
(Retail price $38 for full size.)
Next up is this liquid lipstick in the shade
"Mad About Mauve" from Kokie Cosmetics.
I haven't heard of this brand before, and although it seems like it will be long lasting, it doesn't seem to dry down completely after swatching it.
I found the shade to be more of a
brownish nude instead of a mauve.
If I'm being completely honest, I have so many of these shades of lipstick, that I'm kind of
Nowadays I'm personally more about lip tints
instead of liquid lipstick, but I supposed I'll give this a fair shot.
(Retail price $6)
Next up we have this highlighter from the Balm.
I remember a couple years back, this was everyone's favorite cult product, and I had always wanted to try it out and see what the hype was all about.
It's a beautiful champagne shimmer without any chunky glitter on it.
On my pale skin tone it hardly shows up and seems to be far from "blinding" like most highlighters nowadays, but I think it will look really nice on days when I want a more natural sun-kissed look.
(Retail price $24 for full size)
You can't have a highlighter without a highlighting brush, so here's this one from
SL Miss Glam in the number "L36".
I have a few brushes from this brand, and I love them. They're always so pretty, and I'm loving the glitter handle on this one.
It's giving me major unicorn vibes.
I want to say this particular brush is exclusively available to Ipsy only
because I couldn't find it on the website,
so I'm unsure of how much it retails for.
Last but not least we have our bonus product, which is the
I redeemed this product with my Ipsy reward points. If you didn't know, each time you review your Ipsy products, you not only better your chances of getting the products you want in future glam bags, but you also accumulate points that you can redeem for bonus products.
I've heard so many good things about Estee Lauder skincare, so I'm very excited to try it out.
(Retail price $59 for full size)
And that concludes what I got in my glam bag.
Overall, I would rate the bag a 5/5 this month.
If you're new to IPSY, it's a $10/month subscription service where you receive
4-5 beauty samples each month.
If you'd like to check out it out for yourself, you can do so HERE.
